First and foremost thank you to all members who helped at this event. M0SSR, Steve. G4CUS, Antony. G7LEL, Dave. M0OFC, Mike. M0MJU, Martin. 2E0KES, Rob. G3MGQ, Phil. And last but not least G4CUS’s better half Linda.
With the event due to start at 18.30 Raynet members arrived at 17.00. We were paired up and, with the Polegrove broken up into virtual squares, given an area to roam. Control, M0SSR, was in direct contact with St John’s Ambulance, Security and The Event Team stewards.
Thankfully there were no emergencies and other than a few un-ticketed wall climbers, who were caught and escorted from the park by stewards, our services were not required.
After the weather had been dry and warm for the time of year it seemed inevitable that this would change for an outdoor event. And true to form the evening was wet and chilly. However this was made a little more comfortable with the free food and drinks provided by the organisers.
This was a ticket only event limited to 1500 people and from where we were it seemed everyone was having a good time. With live music, a beer tent, food and of course the fireworks there was something for everybody.
This was a new venture for the organisers, in fact the fireworks were meant to have been in November 2014 but poor weather put a stop to them. The organisers then decided to incorporate them into the St George’s Day celebrations.
The evening was a credit to the organisers and H&R Raynet were proud to be asked to be a part of it.
